World Record-Setting 269-Foot Car Jump Video
By Chris WeissFor those of you that were too busy waiting for a glimmering ball to drop in Times Square, you may have missed Travis Pastrana’s record-breaking car jump on New Year’s Eve. And for those that saw it, you probably wouldn’t mind putting off that pile of post-holiday catch-up work to take another look.
Driving a Subaru Impreza STi, Pastrana broke open the standing record of 171 feet and exceeded his own goal of 250 feet with a 269-foot jump over Long Beach Harbor. He landed on a floating barge, skidded into a stop and ran into the backstop before emerging from the car for a victory backflip into the water. It was quite a way to welcome in the new year.
