By Chris Weiss
Get the feeling that Chicago and Geneva are playing tug of war for our attention today? Volkswagen unveiled its 2011 Touareg today, ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The new model is slightly longer than the outgoing Touareg while maintaining a weight some 459 pounds lighter.
The Touareg gets three engine options: two turbo-diesels and a gas-electric hybrid. Diesel-wise, Volkswagen offers a 3.0-liter V6 TDI that puts out 240 hp and 405 lb-ft and a 4.2-liter V8 TDI with 335hp and 590 lb-ft. Economy is provided at 31.8 and 35.8 mpg, respectively. The hybrid model gets a 3.3-liter supercharged V6 TSIĀ with a 46 hp motor worth a combined 376 hp and 428 lb-ft. The hybrid offers a 28.7 mpg return. Engines come paired with a standard eight-speed automatic.
The Touareg features an all-wheel drive system with push-button off-road activation.
Sales will begin in April in Europe. [via Carscoop]
