VATH V58 Package for Mercedes SLK 55AMG Boasts 200 Extra Horses, Costs The Price of a Nice Car
By Chris Weiss
Somewhere in the recent past, VATH decided that the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55AMG was drastically underpowered. To right this perceived wrong, the tuner increased displacement of the V8 engine from 5.5 liters to 5.8 liters and added a compressor, new exhaust system, and recalibrated the ECU. These along with other tweaks add over 200 hp to make a total of 565 hp (up from 360 hp). That upgrade alone costs over $42,000.
Since those that are willing to upgrade their Mercedes with a package that costs more than a brand new C350 are rarely content with performance alone, VATH also offers a number of independently priced upgrades including 19-inch alloy wheels, lowering kit, high-performance brakes, carbon front spoiler and fuel cooler, making for a laundry list of potential 55AMG upgrades.
For those that don’t like to get involved with the details and want the kitchen sink, the total price of VATH’s announced pieces comes to €55,512 (nearly $76, 000). [via Carscoop]
