Up Close With the Jeep Wrangler Islander
By Chris Weiss
Originally introduced at the Detroit Auto Show, the Jeep Wrangler Islander was front and center today at the Easter Jeep Safari. Though most may think of jeeps in terms of desert and forest, the Islander breaks the mold with a distinct beach theme that includes a menacing Tiki-man logo. The package includes Surf Blue paint, leather steering wheel with blue stitching and a cloth interior that continues the theme. That luau sits on top of 17-inch Moab wheels and BF Goodrich tires.
The limited-edition Wrangler Islander will be available to 4,200 buyers and is hitting dealers now, according to a spokesman. The package costs $1,120.
Also mentioned, but not present at the show, the Jeep Wrangler Mountain features a rustic Rescue Green paint scheme with mountain decals and will use the same wheel/tire combination as the Islander. This one will be available in May/June.
