The bad news for Toyota is that it has another potentially painful safety issue on its hands. The good news: it has nothing to do with unintended acceleration. This time we’re looking at more of unintended rollover.

The issue was originally reported by Consumer Reports, which found in testing that the SUV had an unusually high risk for rollover in certain turns. CR gave the vehicle a “Don’t Buy: Safety Risk” rating, effective until the problem is repaired.

Toyota originally downplayed the issue, but later suspended sales of the 2010 GX 460 in order to perform some testing of its own. We’re thinking the company is in no position to downplay or ignore any safety concerns, particularly ones about something as serious as rollover. The company will even provide a loaner car to GX 460 owners that feel uneasy about driving the car.
