Toyota recall pedal Toyota Recall Hits Unprepared Dealers Hard

A long weekend and a few pieces of turkey later and it doesn’t appear that things have gotten any easier for Toyota. In the wake of last week’s pedal recall, it seems that Toyota put the carriage in front of the horses and issued the recall without getting its internal business in order first.

According to industry journal Wards Automotive, Toyota failed to fully inform its dealer network of the pedal and floor modifications needed to repair the accelerator issue before making the recall announcement. Subsequently, confused drivers began contacting their nearest dealer to get a little more info and were met with an unprepared, dumbfounded response.

Toyota cited the need to deliver the information quickly to consumers in the dealer lag and has since filled in its dealer network. Customer notices should be on their way within the next few weeks. [via AutoBlog]

The problem here is not only notifying dealers, but what policies are in place to contact second hand owners of the vehicles. Many times only the original owners are notified. To find out more information go to http://www.ennislaw.com.
