Toyota Recall: Dealers To Start Fixing Pedals

Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A announced today that its dealers will begin to fix the accelerator pedals at the heart of its latest recall. Some dealers even plan to stay open 24 hours in order to deal with the problem, which has been another major blow to Toyota’s reputation. According to Toyota, the repair, which involves adding a steel reinforcement bar to accelerator pedals, should take about 30 minutes.
Toyota will begin contacting owners of affected vehicles as early as this week. Camries, Corollas, RAV4s and Highlanders with VIN numbers beginning with “J” are apparently not subject to the recall.
Toyota will also stop production on affected models beginning today. The company has said that it has found a solution for vehicles in production. [via Inside Line]
