2010 Toyota Prius1 Toyota Prius Recall Imminent

It draws nearer, but still no official Prius recall in the States. According to sources, Toyota will be issuing a U.S. Prius recall within the next few days–so if you’re a Prius owner, keep your eyes out. As discussed in depth all over the Web, the Prius suffers from a momentary loss of braking when switching between regenerative and regular braking driving over bumpy road. The fix will likely involve reprogrammed software–thank you Mr. Wozniak.

The recall could effect up to 311,000 2010 Prius models sold worldwide. However, not every single model will be recalled, as models produced after late January were manufactured with a fix to the problem. 277,000 vehicles are expected to be recalled–37,000 in the U.S.

Toyota is also looking at the possiblity of problems in the Lexus HS250h. [via LeftLaneNews]
