Toyota Prius Is the Latest Problematic Toyota
By Chris Weiss
While Toyota is busy repairing the other eight models in its latest recall, there has been some new word that the 2010 Toyota Prius is also the victim of unintended acceleration. And the problem has been cited by a famous Toyota driver–Stephen Wozniak, co-founder of Apple.
Wozniak experienced unintended acceleration in his 2010 Toyota Prius while in cruise control mode. He was originally unable to get a hold of anyone at Toyota who would listen to his problem, but Toyota has since shown interest in speaking with Wozniak and has reported plans of borrowing his car to investigate–it pays to be the co-founder of a popular, billion-dollar computer corporation.
Wozniak has been insistent that the acceleration issue is software-related and not due to problems with the pedals themselves–and here’s a guy that knows a few things about software.
The NHTSA has reported that it has received 100 complaints about ineffective Prius brakes. It looks like Toyota has one more problem on its hands. [via Jalopnik and Inside Line]
