Toyota Prius Brakes Subject of NHTSA Complaints
Dec 30, 2009 - By Chris WeissToyota was already crowned recall king of 2009, and it looks like 2010 may not be much kinder to the Japanese automaker. According to a report on Inside Line, the 2010 Prius has been the subject of a flurry of complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The complaints, which are quoted at a few dozen, concern unreliable braking and–Toyota’s recent Achilles heal–acceleration. Individual complaints include unexpected acceleration when driving over bumpy road, braking lag and jerky brakes.
So far no official investigation has been launched.
Toyota states that it is aware of the complaints and is investigating the issues on its own. [via Inside Line]
