Toyota Prius Brake Problems Get Official
By Chris Weiss
After a series of increasingly public complaints, Toyota has officially admitted that the 2010Prius suffers from problems with its anti-lock braking system. A spokesman said that Toyota models sold before the end of January have a problematic braking system. Those sold after that time include a fix for the problem. It looks like Toyota knew more than it let on about the Prius issue.
Yesterday, U.S. and Japanese government officials ordered Toyota to investigate the problem after about 180 complaints were received.
The cause of the problem is a temporary loss of braking when switching between friction and regenerative braking on slick or bumpy roads. It reportedly lasts about one second.
A recall has not yet been announced, but don’t be surprised to see yet another Toyota recall headline in the very near future. [via AutoBlog]

It is my bel;ief that this braking problem exists on models older than the 2010 model. I have a 2005 Prius. I have noticed this problem on occasion. It does last for only a moment, but it is noticeable. I expect that toyota will address this issue for all model years

Toyota ripped off a lot of people with a bad engine design, and then blamed the customers. They have no integrity at all – they have been coasting on past laurels. Don't buy from these con men.
