With more and more hybrids finding their way to roads, Toyota plans to continue its leadership role in hybrid production by doubling its hybrid output over the course of this year and next. In 2009, Toyota manufacturered 500,000 hybrids and the company intends to jump that number up to one million by next year.

At the Detroit Auto Show, Toyota introduced its new FT-CH hybrid concept , a smaller look for its popular Prius. Reports indicated at that time that Toyota would introduce eight new hybrid models over the next few years. Today’s report jumps that number to 10 new planned hybrid models. [via LeftLaneNews]
