2010 RAV4 Toyota Follows Up Recall By Suspending Sales on 8 Models

The turmoil over at Toyota continues. Last week, the company announced a new round of recalls affecting 2.3 million vehicles, and yesterday it decided the best route was to suspend the U.S. sale of those vehicles affected by the accelerator problem until a proper fix is made.

Vehicle models affected are the 2009-2010 RAV4, Corolla and Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalons, some 2007-2010 Camry models, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundras, and 2008-2010 Sequoias. No Lexus or Scion models were included in the sales cut-off.

The vehicles in question have been found to experience unintended acceleration even without floor mats. Toyota has stated that gas pedals can become unintentionally stuck in a partially depressed position.

Group Vice President and Toyota Division General Manager Bob Carter said: “This action is necessary until a remedy is finalized. We’re making every effort to address this situation for our customers as quickly as possible.” [via Carscoop]
