Toyota Exec Confirms Plans for Battery EV By 2012
Nov 03, 2009 - By Chris WeissIn a press meeting between local Detroit media and Toyota group vice president and general manager Bob Carter, Carter confirmed Toyota’s plans of getting a battery electric vehicle to market in 2012. While Carter didn’t elaborate on the details of exactly what the car would look like, he did stress that it’ll differ from any Toyota EV concepts that we’ve seen. The big wig also stated that Toyota hopes to get a fuel cell vehicle readied for 2015, assuming there’s an appropriate refilling infrastructure in place. In the meantime, Toyota readies its Prius plug-in hybrid for distribution to commercial and government fleets in Japan, Europe and North America. [via AutoBlog Green]
