Toyota Clarifies: No New Prius Recall Scheduled
By Chris Weiss
Yesterday, we reported that Toyota was planning on recalling 2004 to 2009 Priuses for the acceleration problems that have been making headlines from coast to coast. The information was based upon a Wall Street Journal report, which was apparently erroneous. Today, Toyota came out and stated that it has no plans of issuing a new recall in the face of some well-publicized incidents of unintended acceleration. The Prius was part of the voluntary floor mat recall issued in November.
Toyota offered: “There is no new recall being planned for the Prius to address this issue. To be clear, the 2004-09 Prius was part of Toyota’s November 2, 2009, announcement of a voluntary safety recall campaign to address floor mat entrapment in certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles.”
Toyota’s PR reps are clearly earning their paychecks this year. [via Inside Line]

Hey- that's a Gen III Prius (2010) pictured, not a Gen II (2004-2009) as refered to in the article.

I’m impressed. We’re a pretty new auto site (went live last year) so we don’t have a huge stock of photos of older cars. I just pulled a picture of the latest Prius, but you’re correct that’s a 2010 model.
