Originally, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda planned to skip the U.S. Congressional hearings, focusing on things in Japan while North American President Yoshimi Inaba handled the official fire over here. However, Toyoda left the door open for attending if he received an invitation. Today, after being invited by Representative Ed Towns (D-NY), Toyoda accepted and will appear on February 24.

Toyoda stated: “I have received Congressman Towns’ invitation to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on February 24 and I accept. I look forward to speaking directly with Congress and the American people.”

I’m not sure what newspaper he’s been reading, but I wouldn’t be so eager if I were him. [via egmCarTech] [Photo: Bernt Rostad]
