Think City Electric Car Charges Up to 80% in Just 15 Minutes
By Chris Weiss
An intriguing new electric car charging system was unveiled at the Washington Auto Show yesterday. The fruits of a partnership between Norwegian electric vehicle manufacturer Think and charging infrastructure developer AeroVironment, Inc., the AV level III fast-charge system is capable of charging the Think City electric car from empty to 80% full in just 15 minutes, greatly streamlining the process of juicing the batteries.
Think CEO Richard Canny spread a little excitement for the advance: “This is a major leap forward for electric vehicles. The development and deployment of very-fast-charge stations will help speed the electrification of automobiles in the United States and globally.”
The system certainly sounds quite promising for the future of EVs.
The Think City can travel just over 100 miles per charge and offers a top speed of 70 mph. It’s expected to make its way to the U.S. later this year. Think will also be opening a U.S. plant in Elkhart County, Indiana. [via egmCarTech and Think]
