Pagani has released the third of five teaser videos of its upcoming Deus Venti (or maybe Huayra) supercar, a little piece it calls “Shape of the Wind”. As would be expected in any teaser video series, the latest video provides the most intimate (though still entirely vague and inadequate) look at the car, showing such elements as the steering wheel and wheels.
Pagani will debut the Mercedes AMG V12-powered Deus Venti at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Hit the jump for the video.

The same way that money can’t buy you class, an expensive sports or luxury car can’t buy you driving skills. And over and over again, drivers of expensive cars prove that.
Take this video for example. Mulholland Highway outside of Los Angeles, is one of the most scenic, fun roads to drive in an area filled with expensive, exotic cars of all kinds. So it’s a natural place for a little weekend cruising. In fact, Jay Leno–LA’s most famous exotic car guy–has used the road in his video tests. And while Leno fared okay around Mulholland’s twists and turns, not every driver has been so adept. Just take a look at the video montage of awful Mulholland driving after the jump. It’s a hoot. Teasers aren’t really known for revealing much. That’s kind of the point. But we usually get a shadowy silhouette or pair of headlights, something to grab onto while we anticipate the full reveal.
Pagani has given us none of that in teasing its upcoming C9 supercar. All it’s given us is 30 seconds worth of irrelevance for about two seconds worth of a small C9 model. Lame.
The model shows us what the rear of the car will look like with its taillight clusters and center quad exhaust–something we’ve already seen in spy shots. Other than that, nothing. Oh well, let’s hope they have a few more teasers before Geneva. [via WCF]

New Year’s is drawing near, which means that media outlets of all shapes and sizes are busying preparing somewhat frivolous, but always interesting, top 10 lists of the outgoing year. And today Motor Trend released its picks for the top 10 auto videos of the year. More accurately, its top 10 auto videos: the most popular videos from its YouTube channels.
Classis like the GT-R v. LFA and GT-R v. Bentley Supersports give you an idea of what this list is all about. So far, it’s our favorite ’2010 top 10′ list.
Check out the list in its grand entirety over at MT.

It got all kinds of official just last week, and it didn’t take long to break out of the show circuit and onto the track where it belongs. Ferrari’s new track-only, hardcore 458 is the star of some new video that Ferrari released this week, with both white and red versions hitting the track.
The 458 Challenge is a stripped down, upgraded version of the Ferrari 458 Italia. It has the same 570-hp 4.5-liter V8 engine as the 458 Italia but enjoys a bunch of upgrades including reconfigured gear ratios, upgraded suspension, F1-based traction control, Pirelli R-compound tires and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. It also gets more carbon fiber in the body and Lexan windows.

The Venom GT is the type of car that makes us all squirmy when trying to sleep at night, dreams of 1,200-hp tuned LS9 engines dancing endlessly through our heads. And world-famous car guy Jay Leno had the opportunity to get a Venom GT, along with creator John Hennessey, into his garage for a little backgrounder. Leno provides the best look at the inspiration and build behind the Venom GT that we’ve seen yet.
The Venom GT is a 2,700-lb. car powered by 1,200 horses worth of tuned, twin-turbo ZR1 V8. Numbers on the car include a 2.5-second 0 to 60 and a 267 mph top speed. Hennessey will offer just 29 models of the supercar, each starting at $900K. See more at Jay Leno’s Garage. [via Inside Line]

Last year, we got the news that the Mercedes/McLaren SLR was officially retiring. We were pretty ambivalent: on the one hand, we loved the SLR. On the other hand, the tuners loved it too, and that was often a bad, bad thing.
Well, out of the blue, the SLR is back, in a limited edition called the McLaren Edition SLR, kind of strange for a retired car, but who are we to nitpick. McLaren introduced the car at the Essen Motor Show this week.

The Shelby GT500 Mustang is a helluva hot car. But tune it up to 800-hp and it’s way hotter. Literally.
A tuner did just that with this GT500 and then it caught fire in the worst way. As the story goes, a piston rod bolt shot out of the car after the owner hooked it to the dyno and started some raging flames. Bad for him, good for you. [via Jalopnik]

You know what’s about a thousand times better than any of the other parades that you may have watched or will watch this holiday season? An all-Lamborghini parade that lets some of the most powerful Lambo flagships out of the cage all at once.
Earlier this month, Lamborghini held a ceremony in honor of the Murcielago’s retirement. And part of that ceremony was a parade in which Lamborghini drove V12 supercars like the 350 GT, Miura, Countach and Diablo down the streets of Sant’Agata Bolognese. And now there’s some video of that grand event. Stop reading; hit continue and enjoy! [via WCF]
