Lexus LFA
You might think that buying a $375,000, 500-example Japanese supercar would make you feel special enough. But then you wouldn’t really know rich car guys very well.
American tuner CEC knows them a little better. And that’s why it’s offering a tuned version of the Lexus LFA to the highly exclusive tune of just three models. The Tuned Edition won’t offer any performance upgrades, but will get some extra carbon fiber inside and out; lightweight, 21-inch forged wheels; and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires.

We’re not yet sure just how “super” this supercar will be–it didn’t exactly make big headlines at the Detroit Motor Show–but it does have the makings of the next American supercar. It’s the Falcon from Michigan-based Mach7 Motorsports, a car that the company plans to get out in limited production this year.
Like a good Michigan-born sports car, the Falcon is powered by GM V8 engines–either the 500-hp LS3 V8 or the 640-hp LS9 V8. The latter gives it enough oomph to put it in the supercar conversation, and its 2,850-lb weight helps advance that conversation. Unfortunately, Mach7 didn’t release the performance specs needed to provide definitive word on how the conversation ends.

As if we don’t have enough supercar awesomeness this year, now word of yet another one: the Noble M600 will hit the market in April. Even more interesting than that: Noble released a bunch of new renderings of the production-ready car.
The Noble M600 will make use of a 650-hp 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Tucked away in 2,645 lbs. of tubular space frame chassis and carbon fiber body, that engine shoots the car to 60 mph in 3 seconds, to 120 mph in 8.9 seconds and keeps it accelerating until around 225 mph. Take a look at the car after the jump and see what you think. [via WCF]

In all the Pagani hub-bub earlier this week, I missed one of the most important parts: a video that gives a close-up of the Pagani from inside and out. It shows details that you don’t quite get from the pictures.
The video was put up by Evo magazine. It shows the air flaps in action and provides some engine audio–audio loud enough to scare a rather fierce looking German shephard.
We detailed the Pagani earlier this week, so now all that’s left to do is hit “continue” and watch the video. [via Carscoop]

After last week’s leak, Pagani only wasted a few days before introducing the Huayra. The new V12 flagship is officially here.
As we knew, the Huayra is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine designed specifically for the car by Mercedes AMG. That bi-turbo engine will put out 700 horses and 773 lb-ft on the “standard” Huayra and 730 horses and 811 lb-ft on the Sport model. It will be controlled via a seven-speed paddle-shift transmission.

Last week, word surfaced that the 2012 Nissan GT-R will come equipped with a new version of launch control. Translation: Godzilla is going to come out of the gate running fast. 2.9 seconds to 60 mph worth of fast.
Today, a video showing some testing of the GT-R puts the improved acceleration into visual perspective. And as you’d expect with those types of numbers, it’s impressive to watch.
The Nissan GT-R was originally equipped with launch control, but due to its penchant to ruin the transmission, Nissan eliminated it in 2009. With the loss of launch control, the GT-R’s acceleration capability fell back toward earth (though it was still plenty quick). With a more powerful, 523-hp twin-turbo V6 and a reactivated launch control function, the 2012 GT-R promises to be quicker than ever. It will be available for sale at Nissan dealers all across the country; from Nissan of Nissan of Peoria AZ to Nissan of New York dealerships. Get your first taste after the jump. [via TotheFloor]

So far, we’ve seen two renditions of the Porsche 918: the original Spyder concept and the race-inspired RSR. Porsche will not use the newer, Detroit-debuted RSR as the basis for its production model. Outgoing design chief Wolfgang Durheimer clarified that Porsche intends to offer the 918 in Spyder form and hasn’t yet decided whether or not to build a production coupe version.
He told Autocar: “We learned from the Carrera GT that the driving pleasure of the car is enhanced when you have the possibility to drive open or closed. We have always told people interested in the 918 Spyder that it will have a roof concept similar to the Carrera GT’s, with a lightweight carbon fibre panel. A closed car is better for motorsport, though.”
As for the RSR, Porsche will use that model for competitions and hopes to get it entered sometime this year. [via Autocar]

We’ve been taking it for granted that the Murcielago-replacing Aventador/Jota was on schedule for a Geneva Motor Show debut. But the fact was, Lamborghini hadn’t confirmed it. Until today. Lambo made official what we already knew: the world will have a new Bull flagship in early March.
In addition to the rather anticlimactic confirmation, Lamborghini detailed the suspension behind the Aventador. The new car will get an F1-inspired pushrod spring and damper system designed to deliver tighter handling and increased comfort. The shocks will have hydraulic lifters that enable the driver to prop the front bumper up by about 4 centimeters at the push of a button.
The new suspension set-up will deliver absorption for a car motivated by an all-new, 690-hp 6.5-liter V12 engine, which Lamborghini detailed back in the fall.

The Gumpert Apollo is a muscular, menacing, all-out supercar and it’s about to get a younger brother. According to Autocar, Gumpert plans on introducing a two-seat ‘fast tourer’ at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. That model was developed with the help of Touring Superleggera and is known as the Gumpert Tornante by Touring.
