In an effort to cover up the ugly offer customers a superb customization experience, Aston Martin has announced that the Cygnet will be offered in any color the customer desires. So go ahead and commission yourself a rainbow of ungainly, little Skittles.
An Aston spokesman explained:
“Part of the point of the Cygnet is that it will offer a level of customisation not normally associated with this class of car. As with any other car in the Aston range, a customer can ask for any colour scheme and we will do our best to make it work, either by creating a paint colour or creating a wrap for the car.”

Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez has been talking about the Cygnet, stating that it is exactly what the company needs in face of growing environmental and economic concerns.
Bez explains: “We have many customers who live in London, Paris, Rome or Milan, and who would like to drive their Aston Martin more often, but with a V12 sports car, it’s just not appropriate. They tell me that they want an Aston Martin that fits better into their urban lives. And it is our job to give them what they want.”
Fair enough. But have they really been that hungry for an ugly, little Toyota iQ with Aston Martin grille? Is that the logical evolution for the V12 sports car owner? We’re still answering with a huge, bold-faced NO, but there’s still a long ways to find out for sure. [via Carscoop]

Alright, we promise this is the last little bit of attention we’ll give to the over-publicized (and awful) Aston Martin Cygnet (unless something really major and interesting happens with it). Aston Martin has released a teaser video of the development of its little fugmobile that could–or at least some random parkour around the factory where it’s being built. Check it out below. Yes, it’s a portly, little nugget that only a parent could love. Word is that Aston Martin will only be offering the Cygnet to those that already own Astons. We don’t really speak yacht, but Aston chief Ulrich Bez was quoted in the NY Times as stating: “This concept is akin to an exclusive tender for a luxury yacht.” Kind of odd to be making yacht comparisons when talking about the Cygnet, but whatever works.
Those Aston owners can expect to have their worlds opened up to not only questionable styling but also to lackluster performance in the form of a 97hp Toyota iQ engine that’ll spin the way to a 105 mph top speed.
Aston will offer 2,000 Cygnets, each costing between 20,000 and 30,000 pounds. [via WCF]

We’re pretty confident not a single Aston Martin driver or fanatic has ever lied awake at night day dreaming about a tiny, subcompact urban commuter. In fact, we’d bet a year’s salary on it. Unfortunately, some designers at the automaker apparently have. And thanks to them, we get the Cygnet.
In developing the concept, Aston made over a Toyota iQ with distinctive Aston Martin flare. And they managed to create a whole lot of wrong. The wings just don’t belong on this pug-nosed little putter.
