Lambo Sesto Elemento 6 Lambo Readying Sesto Elemento For 50th Anniversary?

Lambo chief Stephan Winkelmann has already indicated to the media that the Bull is considering offering a very exclusive production of the Sesto Elemento concept. Reports today suggest that Lamborghini will stick to its M.O. and develop a limited edition supercar for its 50th anniversary, which will be in 2013. And speculation says that the production Sesto and 50th Anniversary car may be one and the same.

Concept Car With Motorcycle Tires

lightweightconcept01 Concept Car With Motorcycle Tires

This is straight out of an action-hero cartoon: a car that has two built-in motorcycles for rear tires. Of course, in a cartoon version, it probably wouldn’t be an electric urban commuter, and the motorcycles would have two wheels. But in today’s world of green design, this car is about keeping it clean as much as it is about fulfilling boyhood fantasies.

A Red Dot Award winner, Bobin Kil’s “Light Weight Concept” (thrilling name) is a light but strong urban commuter that runs on electricity. The rear tires separate from the car when you need something even smaller and more efficient: one-wheeled motorcycles with Segway-based drivetrains. Not necessarily the baddest motorcycle-car, but a pretty unique design. [via Yanko Design]

Nissan Leaf Aero Style Nissan Leaf Aero Style Concept

Is the standard, recently shipped Nissan Leaf not quite stylish or aerodynamic enough for you? Nissan is bringing an upgraded version that it calls the Aero Style to the Tokyo Auto Salon next month. The Aero Style benefits from the aero body kit, which includes a new front bumper, side skirts and mirrors.

As Nissan describes: “Equipped with an aero body kit that accentuates Nissan LEAF’s distinctive silhouette and character lines, this concept car expresses an image of futuristic sport EV driving.”

It doesn’t look all that “aero” to us, but whatever.

The Aero Style will be one of 9 tuned-up, kitted-out vehicles that Nissan shows off at the show. [via WCF]

Lambo Sesto Elemento 61 Lambo Chief Confirms Interest In Limited Production For Sesto Elemento

Rumors last week that Lamborghini is planning a very small-scale production of the Sesto Elemento concept have just gotten a little more concrete. CEO Stephan Winkelmann told Autocar recently that the company is working toward a goal of production.

He said: “We are testing the Sesto Elemento at the moment and if it all goes well then we could look at a limited production run. But it would not be homologated because there are complications with things like airbags. It would be for track use only.”

No matter, Winkelmann said that there will be a max of 20 units built, so you’re not likely to see one on the streets anyway. [via Autocar]

Renault DeZir Renault DeZir Concept On The Road

The Renault DeZir concept was one of our favorites from the Paris Motor Show. Autocar recently got the opportunity to slide behind the wheel and see what the electric concept could do. And they videotaped it for our viewing pleasure.

The Renault DeZir is powered by a 110 kW electric motor and a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery similar to that in the Nissan Leaf. It boasts a 5-second 0-to-62 mph time and a 112 mph top speed. See what Autocar was able to do with it here.

Bugatti Startos Straightline Motorcycle Concept

This here is some type of odd motorcycle concept designed by Bruno Delussu. What’s weird about it, in addition to the giant rear wheel and tiny front wheel, is that it’s designed to only go in straight lines–okay for land speed records, not so good for anything else. Those handles are just for holding, and no matter how hard you yank them, they won’t steer that front wheel an inch. It’s straight only, and with such a long, unwieldy body, I don’t imagine you’ll have much luck negotiating curves by leaning into them. Scary!

2014 lotus esprit7 New Lotus Esprit Bows In Paris

We’ve been waiting and it’s finally here–a new Lotus Esprit (concept). While just a concept for now, Lotus plans to begin production on this one in the spring of 2013.

Moving upmarket from the last Esprit, which ended production in 2004, the new Esprit gets a bigger 5.0-liter V8 engine worth 620 hp. The engine gets some form of pressure charging, but Lotus didn’t specify turbo vs. super. Either way, the new Lotus offers much-improved performance that will help it compete with the likes of Ferrari and Porsche: 3.4 seconds to 62 mph and 205 mph worth of overall speed.

The Esprit will also have KERS as an option.

Early speculation indicates the Esprit will cost somewhere in the mid to high $100s when it debuts in about three years. Enjoy some different angles after the break. [via InsideLine]

Jaguar’s Big Paris Surprise: C-X75 Supercar Concept

Jaguar C X75 1 Jaguars Big Paris Surprise: C X75 Supercar Concept

We’d have thought for sure the most exciting news of the day would be coming from Lamborghini’s camp, but it’s come from across the pond, instead. While Lambo’s Sesto Elemento is nothing short of lustrageous, Jaguar’s announcement of its own supercar concept is more exciting because a. we hadn’t heard a peep about it until today and b. Jaguar hasn’t made a supercar since the hot, sexy, world-record-breaking XJ220 ended back in 1994. So yeah, this is big news.

Lambo Sesto Elemento 6 Lamborghini Unveils Sesto Elemento Concept. Finally!

After yesterday’s leak, we figured Lamborghini would have no choice but to unveil its new concept today, and indeed it has. After dropping the sixth and final teaser, which we won’t waste any more time on, Lamborghini released photos and information on the concept.

The Sesto Elemento, which means Sixth Element, uses a carbon fiber monocoque tub and carbon fiber all over–front end frame, body panels, suspension parts, rims–pretty much everywhere you look. As such, it cuts hundreds of pounds over other Lamborghinis and comes in at a featherweight 2,202 lbs. (or 999 kg if you want to be catchy). The 570-hp 5.2-liter V10 engine has no problem pushing that light, skeletal body to 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds on up to around 218 mph.
