Audi Axiom Design Study

axiom1 Audi Axiom Design Study

Designer Amar Vaya recognizes that Audi is a badge known for its flowing, aesthetic cars and inspiring visual designs. Also– it knows how to throw drawn-out teaser and video campaigns like no other, but that’s a story for a different time. Vaya knew that if he was going to create a concept and attach the Audi rings to it, it would need to exemplify this beauty of design.

And, by crikey, I think he’s done it. Called the Axiom, the car definitely shows that Audi is no poor man’s ride, even if the concept is a little overly robust in its curves. I’m not sure if those eyelash headlights could light up anything larger than a closet, but they sure look nice. [via Yanko Design]

Hyundai Aebulle: A Concept Motorcycle With a Cockpit

Friday, May 21, 2010 3:09PM - By

While an enclosed motorcycle might be moving dangerously close to efficient, one-seat car, this one earns a little respect for its sheer awesome design. Brought to us by Shane Baxley, a design student at Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design, the vehicle “delivers the mobility and speed of a motorcycle while offering the safety that a cocoon offers a butterfly. The Aebulle is targeted for the Los Angeles region where it would utilize the commuter lanes allowing its occupant a quick commute.” In LA, it should also earn you a conversation or two with a scantily-clad blond beauty.

Joining the GTI Adidas at Wörthersee is the Volkswagen Golf GTI Excessive. Unlike the Adidas, the Excessive is but a concept and won’t be seeing production. According to VW, the idea behind the concept is  “extreme precision in the definition of shapes, radii and straight lines, as though cut with a razor blade.” We think it exemplifies that focus pretty well.

Mercedes F800 concept2 Mercedes Benz Gets All Futury With Its F800 Style Concept

Don’t expect to see too much of the over-the-top styling from this F800 Style concept (e.g. minivan doors)  in the next-generation CLS that it foreshadows, but the concept does give an idea of what the new CLS will look like. The Geneva-bound plug-in/fuel-cell concept is said to be a research vehicle and features a 300 hp V6 paired to a 109 hp hybrid module and seven-speed transmission. Despite the hybrid package, Mercedes provides enviable performance numbers: 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds and 155 mph top speed. It also offers 18 miles of pure-electric driving.

uc2 Rinspeed UC? Electric Commuter Concept Unveiled Before Geneva

Swiss design firm Rinspeed will be displaying a new urban electric concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and has provided a number of pictures and information on the stout, little two-seater today. The UC? (Rinspeed includes the question mark as part of the name) is part of a greater mobility concept that envisions the cars packing onto Europe’s efficient trains via custom railcars for longer trips. While aboard, the UC? will get charged from the purpose-built railcar.

Bugatti Renaissance Concept: The Veyron of the Future

Pretty sure we won’t be seeing anything resembling the Bugatti Renaissance concept coming out of Molsheim, but it’s sure fun to look at. The design, which is a bit overwrought in our opinion, hails from Canadian John Mark Vincente, a graduate of the communication design program at Emily Carr University.

The overall look of the Veyron-based Renaissance isn’t bad, and the silver, carbon, red and black scheme dazzles the pupils, but something about it is a little Transformeresque–and that’s never a good thing for a car. Take a closer look in the gallery below and decide if you love it or hate it. [via egmCarTech]

Mitsubishi PX MiEV Mitsubishi Might Bring Plug In Tech Shown at Tokyo to the Lanser Evo

The Mitsubishi PX-MiEV concept is on its way to Tokyo, and with it, it brings an interesting plug-in hybrid system that operates in several different modes. According to Autocar, the plug-in system on the concept may find its way into the next-generation Lanser Evolution. The Evo X uses the same AWD system as is featured in the PX-MiEV concept, and according to Autocar’s report, Mitsubishi insiders have indicated that the plug-in system could find its way into the Evo by 2013. The plug-in hybrid system features a gasoline engine and front- and rear-axle electric motors that kick on and off based upon power and driving conditions. Of course, with many questions surrounding the viability of the plug-in system within the Evo (price, weight, etc.), and production of the Evo XI at a standstill, it still remains a big question mark.
