Good news/bad news: Citroen is considering producing two of its most intriguing concepts in recent memory: the Survolt sports coupe and the Metropolis luxury sedan. Unfortunately, there’s no Citroen here in the U.S. But since most Americans wouldn’t be buying one anyway, the good news wins: we’ll still be able to gawk at the models if Citroen pulls the trigger. As an added bonus, I’m thinking the production Survolt will lose the pink gills.

Take a short sprint down memory lane, and you’ll recall all forms of sexy electric concepts back at the Geneva Motor Show. Outside of the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid, the Citroen Survolt was arguably the most interesting and sexy electric born in Geneva 2010.
The concept is currently being prepped for a run at the Le Mans Classic this weekend and Citroen has released a new teaser video. Off the showroom floor and onto the track, the Survolt puts 300 horses worth of dual electric motors to work. One of the most short, to-the-point videos you’ll see in the auto world, the teaser is seven seconds of nothing but Survolt straightlining. [via WCF]

We first saw the Citroen Metropolis last week. At the time, we were limited to a few renderings of the concept. While attractive, renderings can never fully deliver the heart and soul of a car, especially one as stylish as the Metropolis. I came across this gallery of actual photos–and plenty of them–and thought it was time to update.
The Metropolis concept is a plug-in hybrid sedan that features a V6 gas engine and an electric motor that combine for 460 horses. Shifting is handled via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Enjoy a full gallery and video below. [via Carscoop]

We tend not to follow the Euro-only market too closely on MotorCrave, but Citröen has a legacy of some pretty inspiring concepts that we’d be remiss to avoid. This one is called the Metropolis and it’s being prepped for the Shanghai World Fair. Created by Citröen’s international design team based in Shanghai, the concept is designed to pay homage to China’s extraordinary development–whatever the hell that has to do with a concept car.

A European concept car trying to emulate the image of man put forth by GQ magazine? Sounds pretty douchey to me. Yet, looking at the GQbyCitroen, it’s anything but.
Citroen designer Mark Lloyd describes the design as thus: “Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption. It is understated rather than in-your-face, sleek rather than macho.” I don’t know that a car this dashing can ever be understated, but it’s definitely a hot car in a sleek, noble sort of way.

We’ve seen Geneva’s biggest superstars in the metal and carbon, and now it’s time to see them in action. Joining our just-published video of the Audi-RS5 is a video of Citroen’s jaw-dropping Survolt concept. There is a glaring lack of details surrounding the Survolt concept, but you’ll forget all about that as you watch it share the spotlight with a sexy, red-lipped Euro-vixen all dressed up in her best sequins and heels (and later leather for you rambunctious types). This one sure beats whatever work you were going to be doing in the next minute and a half. [via egmCarTech]

French automaker Citroen isn’t exactly a household name here in the States, but after this Survolt concept, it probably will be–at least for a few days. One of the true stunners on display at the Geneva Motor Show, the concept is a style-conscious, efficient all-out performer that merges power, design and all-electric driving.
Luckily for Citroen, the car looks good because it didn’t give us much to go on outside a couple handfuls worth of promises. The company says that it offers a ”motor racing punch” but doesn’t weigh itself down with acceleration or top speed figures. The company didn’t get too specific on the powertrain either, stating only that it is an evolution of last year’s Revolte hybrid concept, a typical rechargeable hybrid system with all-electric driving mode.

Purple cars are usually pretty questionable. Scratch that, they’re usually pretty horrible. This Citroen REVOLTE concept certainly isn’t exempt from that rule, though if you look beyond the Barney-esque exterior, you can kind of make out a decent-looking concept. It’s not a stretch to see the car catching on with certain crowds. The concept from the French automaker is based upon its 2CV–an old, squarer VW Beetle of sorts–updating the classic with a more dynamic, colorful, and frankly, odd look. It’s known that the car is electric, but little was offered on the motor or power source outside of that. So you’ll have to simply accept it at face value–horrible purple paint and all.
