The brand-new Bentley Continental Flying Star brings our mind to a certain place–perhaps, cruising to a luxury hotel with a hatch full of scuba and windsurfing gear to share an evening with an international supermodel. Yes, it is overflowing with style and class.

Italian firm Touring Superleggera presented the shooting brake today at Geneva. The car was crafted at the behest of a nameless but distinguished customer that Touring calls “an avid and passionate collector, with a taste for special coach building”.

Due to become the bald brother of the Supersports Coupe in just a couple weeks at the Geneva Motor Show, the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible has made a sneak-preview appearance. As you’d expect from any Bentley, the new convertible meshes business with pleasure in the form of the coupe’s no-nonsense 621 hp 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbocharged engine. With a little help from the ZF six-speed Quickshift automatic, the Supersports Convertible hits 60 in just 3.9 seconds while impressing every person you blow past. The car tops out at 202 mph and is Bentley’s fastest convertible ever. It also benefits from FlexFuel technology.

Students Create Their Own Bentley Designs

Design from David Seesing

The idea of designing one’s own half-million-dollar Bentley is about as appealing as Scarlett Johansson wearing nothing but chocolate sauce. Unfortunately, the average Joe doesn’t have the skills to turn that dream into reality (either with Bentley or Ms. Johansson).

This is why Bentley chose to team up with some students that actually have the skill set needed to offer a vision of the future. Bentley’s new program is a team-up with students from London’s Royal College of Art. Eighteen lucky students got to study some of Bentleys top designers and present futuristic Bentley renderings of their own.  The designs went on to undergo testing in a wind tunnel.

Bentley Continental Supersports Is a Wonder of Recycling

Bentley Continental Supersports 5 Bentley Continental Supersports Is a Wonder of Recycling

Potential Continental Supersports owners probably aren’t that concerned with the recyclablity of their coveted Bentley. They’re probably more enamored with the 6.0-liter W12, the 630 horses, sub-four 0 to 62 and the general idea of being seen around town in a luxuriously sporty Bentley.

But as a feel-good throw-in, the Supersports doesn’t have to pollute the environment after its road life is over. According to the German Motor Transport Authority, it’s 85 percent recyclable–making it a rare luxury vehicle with those bragging rights.

2011 bentley mulsanne1 2011 Bentley Mulsanne Priced at Nearly $300K

In some of the rare non-LA news this week, Bentley has put a price on its 2011 Mulsanne. The commanding sedan will come with a starting price of $285,000 when it hits dealers in mid-2010. Since it’s not likely that Bentley owners will be content with the barest of minimums, that price will likely soar close and above the $300,000-mark in a hurry. The Mulsanne made its debut in Monterrey back in August, and is slated to feature a 6.75L twin-turbocharged V8 engine good for 505 horses and 725 lb-ft of torque. It was built as a sort of $300K homage to classic Bentleys of the past. [via egmCarTech]

Bentley Mulsanne--Far From Entry Level

The words “entry level” and “Bentley” don’t exactly harmoniously mesh. Indeed, if Bentley does actually follow through on reports that indicate it will be producing two such models,  they’ll likely be reserved for “entry-level” millionaires.

Regardless, rumors are that Bentley is working on a pair of cars that will fall neatly below the Continental on the price/prestige scale. Production could begin in 2014.

Vorsteiner Styles the Bentley Continental GT…Sort Of

Though the company bears a name quite similar to one of my favorite German beers, I can’t say I’m enamored with this Vorsteiner BR9 Bentley Continental GT styling package. Outside of the language–”vacuum bagged dry carbon fiber technology”–there’s just not a whole lot of wow there.

Love it or leave it, the package includes five carbon fiber pieces: lowered front bumper, side skirts, lowered rear bumper with integrated diffuser and a deck lid spoiler. Additionally, customers choose matte or gloss finish on the carbon upgrades and add 22-inch forged aluminum ‘Monoblock Mesh’ wheels covered up in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 rubber. [via WCF]

Bentley Mulling A Continental Supersports Convertible

Continental Supersports 9 Bentley Mulling A Continental Supersports Convertible

The Bentley Continental Supersports may not look like it needs anymore tweaking, but Bentley is considering issuing a soft-top version, according to a report on Car and Driver. The Supersports is Bentley’s best answer to the supercar–with a 6.0-liter 621 hp V12, the Supersports is capable of a 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds, as well as a 204 mph top speed–not bad for a car as big and broad as a Bentley Continental. With those credentials, tearing the roof off might be the only way left to make the Continental any cooler than it already is. While Bentley is considering a convertible version, it has not yet commited to adding the eigth Continental model. For now, we’ll just have to settle for the 2010 Supersports, which goes on sale this month for a price of $273, 295. [Car and Driver via Motor Authority]
