2008 Estoque Concept
It seems like things are going plum crazy over in Sant’Agata Bolognese. Last month, reports indicated that Lamborghini is carefully considering adding an SUV and a sub-Gallardo entry-level model to its line, and now, Lamborghini chief Stephan Winkelmann has indicated that a sedan is also a possibility.
According to Bloomberg, Winkelmann said: “A third model would fit Lamborghini very well. A four- door car would be a very feasible approach.”
If it comes to fruition, the four-door Lambo would compete with the likes of the Aston Martin Rapide and Maserati Quattroporte. It would be the first sedan ever built by Lamborghini. [Bloomberg via Motor Authority]

Back in the late 80s, as a Lambo-obsessed child I was both shocked and fascinated when I first found out that the automaker behind my beloved Countach and Miura also made a boxy, muscular off-roader. While I wasn’t too sure about the LM002 when I first spotted it in my bible of Lamborghinis, its ruggedly handsome looks grew on me. There was something so intriguing about taking an unsuspecting guest into the garage to show off your Lamborghini, only to pull the cover off a jeep. And not just any jeep, but a hardened, military-esque piece of V12-powered machinery.

Now this is just showing off. We know that the big guns like Autocar get to spend a lot more time on the track than the average person (or car blogger) , but four supercars for one race? That’s just a little excessive. But I suppose it’s excessively great to watch, so we’ll forgive their indulgent ways.
The competition was crafted to give the SLS AMG a concrete identity through the identification of natural rival. Which competitor comes closest? Off the cuff, I’m betting the 911 Turbo, but they all seem to have a good chance. No matter which car wins, you’ll win by watching the video after the break. [via egmCarTech]

Lamborghini announced today that it has sold a full 10,000 Gallardos since 2003, an accomplishment it is celebrating with “Lamborghini Day” in Shanghai. The 10,000th Gallardo will then make its way to a Chinese buyer.
The feat makes the V10 Lamborghini the best-selling Lambo of all time. Of all time.
To my dismay, the 10,000th Gallardo to roll off production lines just happens to come in bright “Midas” yellow–not the best looking skin for a Gallardo, imo. Still a nice little piece of publicity for Lamborghini. [via WCF]

Well this is a new one. I’ve grown pretty accustomed to high-end-car-inspired watches and cell phones, but this is the first laptop I’ve seen. It’s also the first piece of gear I’ve come across that features taillights.
The new Asus VX6 and VX7 are notebook computers that draw clear influence from Lamborghini, complete with a Murcielago-like rear end (on VX7). The notebooks feature sharp, Lambo-style lines throughout and a hood-style case with Raging Bull badging.

It’s hard to believe that a teaser for a car as highly anticipated as the Lamborghini Jota could actually make us less interested, but this one has nearly done it. Maybe it’s just that we’ve been so excited to get an official look at the Jota, or maybe it’s that the teaser basically shows the Raging Bull, a little bit of black paint and absolutely nothing else, but this is just disheartening. Come on, Lambo, even the Ford Explorer gave us a bit of hood and a headlight–and we’re not that excited about the Ford Explorer. Give us more. Soon.

On our Tuesday tour of Mediterranean area design, we move eastward from Spain to Italy where this Lamborghini Cnossus concept was born. A thesis collaboration between two Scuola Politecnica di Design students: Russian student Victor Filipchenko and Portuguese student Nelson Simoes, the Cnossus is named after a city on Crete. The designers took some inspiration from the Lamborghini Countach and made a Lambo all their own.

We doubt that many of our readers will be running to the phone for this one, but Lamborghini is recalling 428 2007-2008 Murcielago LP640 and LP640 Roadsters. The cause of the recall is a potential fire hazard that exists due to a faulty fuel tank. Specifically, a fuel leak could develop when tank vibration and movement of the gas inside the tank partially detach the fuel pump support. If an external ignition source is present, this leak could result in fire. So far, no actual fires or accidents have been reported from this problem.
Lamborghini is expected to begin the recall next month. Owners with questions can contact Lamborghini at 508-808-9562. [via InsideLine]

German tuning house DMC has released a tuning package for the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 that adds a little bit of speed, power and style to the venerable Lambo. The Quattro Veloce package upgrades the output of the engine to 661 hp, allowing a decrease in 0 to 60 mph time to 3.2 seconds and an increase in top speed to 213 mph (standard LP 640 offers 3.4 seconds and 211 mph).
