Yesterday, we got a look at one of the prize fighters of the Geneva Motor Show: the Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid, a triumph of power, beauty and efficiency that must be seen firsthand to be believed. While Porsche won’t buy you a ticket to Geneva to take a look, our friends in Stuttgart did release a promotional video of the new concept. You’ll have to sit through a bit of dramaticized Porsche history before you hit the goods, but you’ll see a flash of the 918 Spyder concept that will make the two minutes worth your while. Mazda has debuted a redesigned version of its Mazda 5 van at the Geneva Motor Show. The van is the first production Mazda to get a full injection of Nagare Flow design language, which provides a fluidity to the vehicle whether in motion or at rest. The exterior design helps the Mazda seamlessly blend with the mountains in the distance.
Other changes to the new 5 include the beaming grille, redesigned center stack inside, power sliding doors and wider seats. The Euro-spec 5 will come with 2.0-liter direct-injected engine or a 1.8-liter option, both of which come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. [via Inside Line]

Automakers approaching a major auto show are a little like kids on Christmas Eve: they just can’t wait until the day is officially here. Lamborghini is the latest automaker to introduce a Geneva centerpiece a little early. The Raging Bull has provided the full details of its spanking-new, lightning-fast Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, which loses weight and gains power and performance.
Lamborghini has broken the 3,000-lb. mark, cutting the weight of the Superleggera down to 2,954 lbs through the use of generous amounts of carbon fiber and polycarbonate. Let’s just go ahead and call this supercar Friday. Next up on our list: the Koenigsegg Agera, a power miser boasting 910 horses and 811 lb-ft of torque. That performance is derived from Koenigsegg’s 4.7-liter V8 engine. Combine the power with carbon-fiber/kevlar/aluminum honeycomb construction limiting weight to just 2,832 lbs., and you get to 62 in just 3.1 seconds, double that in 8.9 seconds and don’t stop accelerating until you hit a whopping 245 + mph top speed. That would make the Agera the highest-performing supercar of our Friday, February 26 triumvirate.
