The Geely GE, as originally designed last year, looked a lot like a cheap knock-off Rolls Royce. So much so in fact, that Rolls Royce began some preliminary discussions with its legal team. So, Geely went back to the drawing board and used fear of legal retribution as inspiration for a redesign. Not the conventional “emotion meets mechanics” that automotive folks tend to quote, but effective motivation for design just the same.

The new GE is much rounder and less regal looking than the original Rolls carbon copy. We don’t think anyone will be mistaking that for a Phantom anytime soon. The new car also loses the single seat in back for a traditional two-seat set-up.

And according to Ferrari, the new 599 GTO, which will be introduced to the world at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show, is the fastest Ferrari street car ever. That’s a very fitting way to revive the GTO legacy.
