Special Edition Ferrari 599 China Sells For $1.77 Million

Despite looking like a cracked porcelain tea cup, Ferrari has fetched a killing for this special edition 599. Sold  to an anonymous Shanghai bidder at a dinner at Beijing’s Red Gate Gallery, the 599 brought in 1.2 million Euros ($1.77 M). The proceeds will go to fund the studies of students at Tsinghua University’s Department of Automotive Engineering, bringing them to Italy to intern at Ferrari and study at Politecnico di Milano University. Apparently the design that many would find a questionable waste of Ferrari is exactly what sparked interest in the 599 China (and inspired its eventual selling price). [via egmCarTech]
