Someones Burning in Hell for This: Mentally Disabled Woman Charged $66K for Used Mazda6

‘Ehhh, have we got a deal for yous!’ That beautiful cross of Canadian and Brooklyn must sound a little like what the sleaziest salesman in the world said to Madeline Leonard, a mentally disabled Canadian woman that was unconscionably ripped off when she went to a Mazda dealership in Orangeville. Ms. Leonard went to the dealership to get some new tires for her 2004 Mazda3 and somehow got talked into spending $66,000 on a demo 2010 Mazda6 with about 3,700 miles on it. Sure that’s Canadian, but she ended up paying about $25,000 more than she should have been charged for the used car. Further, she makes less than $2,000 a month and shouldn’t have even qualified for the loan that resulted in the buy.

Well, despite her gullibility, Ms. Leonard compared the price to other stickers, realized she got royally ripped and contacted the regulatory authorities. The dealership in question faces a $250,000 fine plus a possible $100,000 fine for each salesman involved in the transaction. We sincerely hope it also faces imminent bankruptcy now that this story has destroyed any shred of credibility it may have had.

And if you didn’t hate them already, here’s what the dealer’s manager had to say: “”We didn’t do anything wrong in the case of this transaction. We made a little bit of money on the deal. I guess she was not happy with it.”

Times may be tough, but that’s just beyond lowly and despicable in every conceivable way. [The Star via Jalopnik]

This is total BS and media sensationalism. That $66,000 figure comes from an 8 year finance. She did not get ripped off that bad. Madeline Leonard's car is actually being paid for by taxpayers. Also, by her own admission she was DUI on arrival at the dealer.
