Some Toyota Owners Experience Unwanted Acceleration Even After Recall Fix
By Chris Weiss
Boy, Akio Toyoda must have really screwed someone with power in his past life. In more potential bad news for Toyota, reports of drivers experiencing unintended acceleration have surfaced. That’s nothing new for Toyota, right? Well, a few drivers have experienced the problem even after taking their vehicles in for service under Toyota’s recalls. Seven individual complaints have been documented and relate to Camry, Avalon and Matrix models.
The NHTSA has not yet confirmed these new issues, but if true, they indicate that acceleration problems could run deeper than the meddling floor mats and sticking pedals that Toyota is currently repairing. That wouldn’t be good at all as Toyota has already endured a huge fallout and is in the process of trying to right its wrongs.
NHTSA administrator David Strickland said of the issue: “NHTSA has already started contacting consumers about these complaints to get to the bottom of the problem and to make sure Toyota is doing everything possible to make its vehicles safe.” [via LeftLaneNews]

Toyota's "fix" is lookin' worse and worse. An estimated 70% of sudden unintended acceleration complaints involve models not even included in current recalls. Reminds me of all those 1zz engine failures – probably attributable to oil sludge – that Toyota has been stonewalling about for years.
Based on my experience, I'd hate havin' to depend on Toyota to fix anything.

I have a 2009 Matrix and we have had 4 unwanted acceleration events since December of 2009 and the last one was after the recalls were performed, so far we have not had any replies to the correspondence the we have sent to the dealer and Toyota. It is obvious that Toyota has no clue on what is happening when an unwanted acceleration occurs especially when the drivers feet are on the floor and the car is accelerating at a rapid speed.
