Six-Wheeled Covini Moves Toward Production
By Chris Weiss
Straight from the pages of our ugliest supercars ever list, the Covini C6W is finally ready for its production debut. According to Jalopnik, Covini will unveil the six-wheeler at the Bologna Motor Show this week. The car has been in development for over three decades, so the fact that it’s actually ready for production (or so they say) is kind of a big deal.
Powering those six wheels (or at least the two in back) is a 433-hp Audi V8. I was surprised to find out that the six wheel configuration wasn’t designed to offer any advantages in terms of hard specs like acceleration or top speed (that might have helped negate the sheer ugly), but instead for less exciting dynamics like increased grip and less chance of hydroplaning.
Covini also plans to offer a few other cars including a diesel supercar. We’ll believe that if and when the C6W finally gets off the ground. [via Jalopnik]
