Rising from the Depths: Mercedes CLS Sculpture Provides Intrigue in Detroit

Apparently, in today’s auto show circuit, simply unveiling a car doesn’t have enough wow factor for attendees or manufacturers. So we get interesting stunts like this auto-meets-artwork from Mercedes.
The sculpture depicts the next-generation CLS and offers “an aesthetic, stylish and emotional design.” Mercedes describes the sculpture as representing “a vehicle rising gently from a level plane — as if formed from liquid silver, or like a shimmering cloth draped gently over a new form.” Definitely interesting, but we’d prefer the actual car.
