By Chris Weiss
Porsche’s most potent hybrid release at this year’s Geneva Motor Show has been enjoying some face time with the video camera at Nurburgring. No world records. No incredible feats. Just a big, menacing hybrid track car driven by a German Adonis going balls to the wall on the world’s favorite track. What more do you really need?
In case what you need is more info, the 911 GT3 R Hybrid features an interesting powertrain that consists of a 480-hp V6 engine and two front-axle-mounted electric motors. Instead of your typical lithium ion, the motors are powered by a flywheel generator that draws power from regenerative braking. The electric motors kick in to deliver extra power when the driver demands it.
Now, enough questions. See it take on the ‘Ring below. [via egmCarTech]
