Ocelot Light Protected Patrol Vehicle Concept
By Chris Weiss
We’re used to vehicles that go fast and look pretty, but most aren’t designed to save your life. Not the case with Ocelot, the new defense vehicle concept from Ricardo and Force Protection Europe (FPE). Presented at London’s Defence Systems & Equipment International Exhibition, the light protected patrol vehicle (LPPV) offers increased flexibility over current LPPVs through the use of modular pods which can be configured as needed for specific operations such as patrols or fire support. Changing out the pods is merely a matter of taking out a few pins, removing the pod off and disconnecting the electrical components. The V-shaped hull of Ocelot is designed to stand up to current and future blast standards. Powering the versatile vehicle is a 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel. The modular design of Ocelot would enable governments to shave costs by using the Ocelot to serve as several vehicles in one. [via World Car Fans]
