New, Suped-Up Ferrari 599 May Be In the Works

Word that a more powerful version of the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is beginning to slither its way across the Web. Auto rag Autogespot has reported that Ferrari is indeed working on such a vehicle and that it will go by the name of 599 GTO.
The roots of inspiration behind the GTO is said to be the circa 60′s 250 GTO. More practical design influence will come from the 599 XX, seen at Geneva earlier this year. The 599 GTO is expected to draw in the range of 680 to 700 horses from a V12 engine while cutting the 599 GTB’s weight by over 100 lbs.
As the rumor goes, the car will follow in the path of the XX and make its debut at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. The price is speculated in the $380K range with production being capped at 500 units. [via egmCarTech]

I am passionate as the next person with fast, wow factor cars, however I must say it does not make sense to continue to produce vehicles in a market that is in saturation and overall not economically viable. I realize this is in the elite price bracket though surely even these consumers would be monitoring their spending. Sorry, this is one hell of a car and is entitled to achieve its rightful status, but the economic timing is not right.
