New Maserati Platforms To Underpin New Alfa Romeos

Fiat and Maserati are currently working on a next-generation platform that will replace its existing models, including the Quattroporte and the GranTurismo. The new platform will shave weight with the use of more aluminum. It will also be designed to accommodate Ferrari-sourced hybrid powertrains. It is thought to be several years from fruition.
The platform will also be extended to Maserati’s sibling Alfa Romeo for some new rear-wheel-drive, top-end models. Alfa will likely offer coupe and convertible variants based on the platform to replace the 8C Competizione. Inside Line also reports that the new Alfas will undoubtedly be offered in the U.S. Sounds like all roses to us. [via Inside Line]
