Hyundai Beats Out Ford for Fourth Place in World’s Largest Automaker
By Chris Weiss
Hyundai has certainly been boosting its reputation in recent years and now it’s officially surpassed the all-American symbol of entrepreunerial ingenuity and efficiency for Q1 sales, making it the fourth largest automaker in the world by these numbers. More accurately, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group beat out Ford by about 8,000 vehicles and came in behind Toyota, GM and Volkswagen. While the numbers were subject to some intepretation since they combined Hyundai and Kia, but failed to combine other automakers like Nissan and Renault, the Hyundai-over-Ford aspect is definitive. This is sure good news for Hyundai, whose vehicles have risen from daily embarrasment/reminder of personal shortcomings to a respectable place on the road. [via RideLust]
