Honda crz Honda Debuts Production CR Z in Detroit

The days of grainy, bootlegged catalog shots are officially behind us; Honda has dropped the curtain on its new production-ready CR-Z hybrid emblazoned in bright red, and the leaks didn’t do it justice. The resurrected CRX features a 1.5-liter VTEC four that delivers 122 hp and 128 lb-ft. The engine is paired with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist hybrid-electric system. Owners can choose CVT automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

Honda hopes to inject a little bit of playfulness and sport into the hybrid segment while delivering 36 mpg city and 38 highway. Three drive modes: Sport, Economy and Normal will give drivers control over the ride.

The CR-Z will hit the U.S. in late summer ’10. Until then, enjoy the shots below. [via AutoBlog]

Familiar shape, but as MPGs go it is a shame the CRX came back with out the HF option. 49+ MPG in the early 90's on a traditional engine, hybrid should have been even better than that. Big deal it didn't go fast. It was a commuters car, like the FIT. Too bad the article below looks to be untrue, the FIT could be even better choice, but not as sexy…..
