GPS Users Most Popular Destinations Include Walmart and Starbucks, Says Study
By Chris Weiss
TeleNav, the navigation services company that boasts more than 13 million subscribers, did a study of its users and made some interesting findings. A study of searches made by TeleNav users in December 2009 showed that the businesses most searched for were Walmart and then Starbucks. Seriously? I know they’re pretty popular with the folks, but you can cut your steering wheel in pretty much any direction and find a big blue Walmart sign or Starbucks. In fact, drive down any main artery, and you’ll probably pass two or three within 15 minutes. Is that really what GPS technology is being used for?
Other businesses that made the list include Target, Best Buy, Bank of America and Walgreens. Even Mickey D’s was on there. People must really have no idea where they’re going.
In other categories, the study found that LA was the city with the most GPS searches in 2009, Maryland was the state where GPS was used most frequently and pizza was the top food search in December ’09. For the rest of the winners of those categories and other useless information you’ll probably never use, check out TeleNav’s full study. [via egmCarTech] [Photo: Amy Guth]
