GM to Halt Hummer Production Until Chinese Deal Is Final
By Chris Weiss
As the pending sale of Hummer to Chinese company Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company winds down, GM intends to stop building Hummer H3s, according to Inside Line. No big loss you say? Well, the stoppage is only temporary and GM will reconvene production once the deal has been approved by Chinese regulators.
As reported earlier, part of the Hummer deal entails GM continuing to build Hummers at its Shreveport, LA plant through 2011, with a possible one-year extension after that.
According to Automotive News, Hummer has 2,100 vehicles in stock, which equates to enough for more than six months. So hurry up and get your Hummer before you don’t have the option. [via Inside Line]
