Funky, Leaning Nissan Concept Hits Tokyo
By Chris WeissThe Land Glider may look like a subcompact that got violently smacked on both sides of its front end, but it’s actually a pretty interesting new concept from Nissan. The super-slim, tandem two-seater is a combination of a motorcycle and efficient subcompact designed for city use where it’s dimensions will be a great attribute when it comes to congestion and tight parking. In order to help slim the vehicle down, engineers employed a leaning function allowing it to lean into turns up to 17 degrees while keeping the passenger and driver safely in place. Sensors in the vehicle calculate the appropriate lean for the given curve. The concept employs two rear motors powered by lithium ion batteries. Nissan envisions a wireless, non-contact recharge system that allows you to quickly rejuice. The Land Glider will be on display at the Tokyo Motor Show. [via WCF]

I am pleased I am the first person to comment, as I just adore this machine. I have just mastered the art of riding a scooter and seeing this is setting the scene for when I can longer ride a scooter, whether it is due to age or the time of year. Our weather is hot and wet during the summer months of May to October and I can see this car being an absolute hit around our province. I expect when and if it is produced that our tourist will trade their bikes for cool machine as this is just ideal for locations where space is at a premium.
