Ford To Bring IPhone-Like Apps Into Its Cars

2009 Ford Focus

In a rare auto story that involves a trade show not dedicated to motors and tires, Ford plans to showcase a new, in-car software feature at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, according to the Free Press. Called SyncLink, the new software will be built into Ford cars’ Sync system and will allow passengers to tap into the booming world of applications for things like listening to Internet music sites. Pandora has been cited as one planned app.

The new feature will allow for third-party development of new apps, much the way the iPhone has done. Some apps being envisioned include those for social networking, entertainment and vehicle information. Ford will make an announcement on Januray 7 in Vegas. [Free Press via egmCarTech]

That would be a great idea. I feel like this would make plug n play so much easier.
