Ford Officializes the 5.0-Liter Mustang GT
Dec 28, 2009 - By Chris WeissAt this point we almost didn’t need Ford to come out and say it, but the company did anyway. After leaks put the kibosh on a dramatic unveil, Ford confirmed what we already knew: the 2011 Mustang GT will mark the return of the 5.0-liter V8. The engine will produce 412 hp and 390 lb-ft all while boosting fuel economy to 17 mpg city/25 highway. Making the latter happen are a variety of technologies including Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing, Electric Power Assist Steering and improved aerodynamics courtesy of a rear decklid seal.
Other changes to the new GT include stiffer rear stabilizer bar, new front Z brace, modified instrument panel and three new color options (Ingot Silver, Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat and Race Red). A Brembo brake package will also be offered. [via WCF]
