2011 Mustang GT Ford Officializes the 5.0 Liter Mustang GT

At this point we almost didn’t need Ford to come out and say it, but the company did anyway. After leaks put the kibosh on a dramatic unveil, Ford confirmed what we already knew: the 2011 Mustang GT will mark the return of the 5.0-liter V8. The engine will produce 412 hp and 390 lb-ft all while boosting fuel economy to 17 mpg city/25 highway. Making the latter happen are a variety of technologies including Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing, Electric Power Assist Steering and improved aerodynamics courtesy of a rear decklid seal.

Other changes to the new GT include stiffer rear stabilizer bar, new front Z brace, modified instrument panel and three new color options (Ingot Silver, Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat and Race Red). A Brembo brake package will also be offered. [via WCF]
