Ford Begins New Round of Worker Buyouts

In a quest to get its workforce better in line with auto demand, Ford is beginning a new round of auto worker buyouts.
Buyouts of United Auto Worker employees will be presented in two forms based upon length of employment. Door number one is available to Ford workers of one year or more and offers a $50,000 lump sum, six months of medical and choice of another $20K or a voucher worth $25K to be used toward a Ford vehicle.
Buyout door number two will be available to tenured workers with 30+ years of credited service and those who are 55 years old and have 10 years of credit service. This option pairs regular retirement benefits with the $20,000 cash/$25,000 voucher option.
The buyouts got underway last week and will continue until January 22. [via LeftLaneNews]
