Fisker’s New Plant May Put the Kabosh on New DeLorean

As anticipated, Fisker announced yesterday that it will purchase GM’s former plant in Wilmington, Delaware for the production of its next plug-in hybrid. While this is good news overall, it comes with a disappointing side effect: DeLorean Motor Company will no longer be able to use the plant to produce the Solstice. According to a recent report on Jalopnik, DeLorean was considering reviving its name with a new version of the Pontiac Solstice, which was previously built there. While there’s a slim window between now and the planned Fisker takeover in 2012, it’s looking unlikely that the plant will serve to help DeLorean pursue its second bolt of lightning. [via Jalopnik]
