Ferrari 599 GTO: The Fastest Ferrari Ever

The title of fastest Ferrari is not one to be taken lightly. It’s comparable to hottest Victoria Secret model ever. Or drunkest, roudiest frat boy. We’re talking the best at what best does. And according to Ferrari, the new 599 GTO, which will be introduced to the world at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show, is the fastest Ferrari street car ever. That’s a very fitting way to revive the GTO legacy.

That headlining speed comes courtesy of a 6.0-liter V12 engine that hurls 661 horses and 457 lb-ft onto very willing tires. The engine, along with much of the car’s look, was derived from the 599XX.

As any car aficionado knows, power is one component of performance and weight is the other. Ferrari used composite materials and “components manufactured with technologies more akin to racing specifications” to keep the dry weight of the GTO down to about 3,296 lbs.

So how fast does the world’s fastest road-based Ferrari go? The top speed is listed at over 208 mph and the 0 to 62 mph time is just 3.35 seconds.

Ferrari will produce just 599 of the limited edition 599 GTO and the price tag will be close to a weighty $500K. [via egmCarTech]
