Dodge has officially spoiled our day. The company opened the door for speculation on a Ferrari-influenced Dodge Viper when brand chief Ralph Gilles was quoted in a Viper-based press release as stating: “When we have partners across the ocean who are known as the best sports-car makers in the world, the future opportunities are huge.”

Autoweek took the opportunity to press the Dodge honcho on whether or not that meant a Ferrari/Viper was in the works, and the answer was a decisive N-O. According to the report, Gilles went on to state: “They really know sports cars. We just want some advice. Ferrari is Ferrari, Viper is Viper.”

On the plus side, Gilles went on to express some uncertainty about the Viper’s future in the article, a future which is expected to end after the 2010 production run. Whatever becomes of the Viper, we just hope that Dodge will be asking for hoards of advice on its next top-end sports car. [via Autoweek]
