Detroit Auto Show to House An All-Electric Area
In an announcement earlier today, organizers of the North American International Auto Show detailed plans to dedicate 37,000 sq. ft. of main exhibition floor to electric vehicles. The space, which will bear the unfortunate name of “Electric Avenue” (prepare to have that damn song stuck in your head for the forseeable future), will showcase over 20 electric vehicles from manufacturers and boutique firms. It will be sponsored by The Dow Chemical Company.
NAIAS Chairman Doug Fox detailed the utility of the new addition: “Electric Avenue is going to be a unique feature of the 2010 NAIAS that will enable us to educate a diverse audience aabout the long-term viability of the auto industry using a subject that is top of mind globally these days.” And then he took it higher.
