DC Design’s High-End, Luxury Tata Nano
Jan 08, 2010 - By Chris Weiss
Here’s an interesting project: customize the world’s cheapest car, put a supercar price tag on it and see what happens. We have a feeling what happens is that you get an ultra-pimp Tata Nano sitting in your workshop for decades, but only DC Design will know for sure. The Indian design firm is in the process of fully customizing a Nano to put it in the price range of $220,000.
DC will strip the car down to the chassis, replacing mechanics, body panels and interior components with more luxurious alternatives. The 33 hp stock engine will be replaced with a beefier 1.6-liter engine that can push the subcompact to a 124 mph top speed.
The company plans to produce two to five vehicles a year for wealthy Indian consumers and export to other markets. We’re pretty sure there’s not much the designers can do to the Nano to make it worth $220K, but I suppose we’ll see when the project reaches fruition. [Auto Blog via Motor Authority]

the price tag of 220K looks unrealistic!
