Cadillac Converj Gets the Red…Errr..Yellow Light

Earlier this week, word was that Cadillac was definitely going full steam ahead with a production version of its Converj concept. GM’s Bob Lutz confirmed it himself when speaking at a Society of Automotive Analysts meeting. It appears that Lutz spoke out of turn because Cadillac global product director John Howell has come out and stated that GM is merely considering the possibility of production. A decision still has to be made.

One of the factors hampering the Converj’s case is the Voltec system from the Chevy Volt that is a part of the design. It may not be powerful enough to warrant a Caddy badge. Also mentioned was the ongoing, post-bankruptcy GM turmoil that weighs heavy on major product decisions.
